an Innovative Edtech Learning Community

Research Project

Doctoral student and researcher Katie Ann Wilson has developed on Innovative Virtual Learning Community for her research project. Her dream for this research project is to determine the effectiveness of a virtual learning community in building teachers' confidence in using digital tools as both a teaching and learning tool.  ​This study is part of the researcher's doctoral education program that will last six weeks and be conducted online.

If you answered NO to any of these questions continue on.  If you answered YES to all of these questions and you would like to be apart of the virtual learning community you will be invited to join after the six week period of the research has completed.

To be considered for this research project participants will be asked to interact with the researcher and other participants within the virtual learning community during the six week research period. Participation is 100% voluntary and will not receive compensation for your time.  Research participants will be asked to participate in discussions, lessons, activities, and presentations. To be considered for the research project potential participants will need to be currently teaching or have taught at the middle school level in a rural community.

Research Application

Before you begin filling at the application you must have the following:
  • A Google account:
    • ​Your Google Account cannot be your school's Google account.  GAFE  (Google Apps for Education) accounts will block access to the shared resources.
    • Your Google account/email cannot contain any identifying information such as your name. The data collected for this research study will be anonymous. 
  • A Screen Name or Nickname:
    • ​​To keep your anonymity your screen name cannot contain information that could identify you.
  • Signed Consent Form: 
    • ​Before you are given access to any of the materials designed for this research project you must have a signed consent form on file.
    • Before the researcher can share any information about this research project you must have a signed consent form on file.
